Looking for Wedding Entertainers

July 28th, 2010 by publisher

So where does one go when they are looking for wedding entertainers?

Of course, as we all know that weddings are special occasions (and which happens only once in a lifetime), almost everyone wants their wedding to be absolutely like they’ve always wanted it to be down to the last detail. One place where you can find a wedding band that will suit your needs will be at an entertainment agency.

And it’s not just about weddings but one can also find talent that will light up the evening in the form of corporate entertainers who just know what the folks who work so hard for the organization would love to have enjoy for that evening.

What might be on the menu can extend from finding musicians that know how to get that party started to even hiring a celebrity impersonator who will not only make people laugh but also leave some awestruck with the impersonations that are made for the evening. While there are several types of gigs that are out there for entertainers, it becomes much easier to find work when you sign up with a talent agency, as they are able to bring people together.

One way or another, going solo would not be a good idea without representation, and for this all one has to do is find a reputed talent agency that has a large number of gigs available for one to perform at.

    Do you like 80s music?

    July 21st, 2010 by publisher

For some of us who were brought up to listen to 80s music on conventional radio, that era will always mean something special to us. Almost every glam rock band in the 80s knew their instruments and with their soaring vocals, lifted our hearts while our feet kept to the quick pace of the beats.

The dawn of MTV also signaled a change of guard when it came to how music was going to be presented with your proverbial VJ throwing scraps of music trivia at us while we watched the slick videos that were made to put faces to the names of music.

(Talk radio was also around but held no fascination like music television did!)

Live performances were also a part of the whole ‘gig’ but television really rocked our world when we were so young and cynicism hadn’t set in as yet. Watching Eddie Van Halen, Nuno Bettencourt, Prince and other bands in action was a treat to watch, and will remain that way for most of us who think that these musicians were at the zenith of their performance.

With the internet really taking off in the 90s or so, another phenomenon has emerged that puts a unique spin on the concept of listening to music. Yes, it is known as streaming radio and this is a service that not only entertains music lovers in a city but all around the world.

Another good place to find out more about 80’s Music is the 80’s Music Forum.

DVR: A must have with any TV Provider

    July 1st, 2010 by admin

Whether one is a frequent or occasional TV viewer, the act of recording shows, movies and/or series, can be either a wonderful extension of enjoyment or a source of tremendous stress. Choosing the provider and system that properly fits one’s needs is one way to insure the former rather than the latter.

All major TV viewing service providers offer such a system in the form of a DVR (Digital Video Recorder), as an optional upgrade. Frequently this upgrade is included in promo packages either totally free or for a minimal additional fee. In either case, it can add a new dimension to viewing pleasure. Having the ability to watch recorded fare at one’s leisure, at a comfortable pace, with those of your choice and, if you choose, with limited commercial interruption, presents a wonderful alternative to “regularly scheduled” offerings.

In Southern California, DirectTV, Time Warner Cable and Dish Network are the three major TV service providers and all tout their DVR’s as being superior. There are so many variables that one would have to be something of an expert to understand them all. However, by reading the descriptions of all of them and then deciding on the intended usage of the DVR, it becomes easier to select the one which best meets the intended needs. Below you can find some helpful links to more information:

    - Direct TV with directsattv.com

    - Cable TV with comcast.com

    - Handy TV Service Guide

The DVR is only one of the many deciding factors in the choice of the TV service provider. While the features of the DVR may be the paramount reason for the choice, the others, such as price, reliability, channel selection, etc., will probably take precedence. If that becomes the case, since each provider only offers one DVR choice, the comparison is more for information than for choice.

In the end, whether or not to add a DVR will probably be the one ultimate choice. The enjoyment, flexibility and value derived from the addition of any DVR, makes this decision relatively easy and highly recommended.

Advertisers spending Millions in World Cup

    June 26th, 2010 by admin

Major companies like Nike, Adidas and Sony Electronics are purring in millions of dollars in World Cup Soccer advertising. Nike is the official sponsor of World Cup and is providing most the shoes to the players. One of their ads has been getting a buzz even before World Cup started and can be viewed below. The ad features many famous soccer players such as Wayne Rooney of England and Christian Ronaldo of Portugal. It even features Kobe Bryant.

Adidas provided the soccer ball, which has been very controversial so far. The ball is supposed to be the latest in ball technology and is made of one piece.  It is said to be 5% faster. Players have complained that the ball acts weird or is too slippery. Several goalies also blamed the ball for their loss.

Sony Electronics has been displaying banners around the court, which can be predominately viewed when watching the games.

It has been said that 3 seconds of World Cup advertising on TV costs around $250,000.

A survey of the Social Media sites by Melwater Buzz, showed that the users are getting involved with the major advertiser brands. The most conversation in May 24th to June 20th were as follows: Nike 27%,  Adidas 23%, Sony 11%, Coca-Cola 9% and Hyundai and Kia at 7%.

US Stunning win in World Cup puts them through next round

    June 23rd, 2010 by admin

Today USA beat Algeria 1-0 in the last 3 minutes of the game (91st minute) in extra time. This win put US through to the round of 16th since the first time in 1930. US needed to win this game in order to get through as on the other deciding match of the group England beat Slovenia 1-0. Both US and England have advanced to the next round, with US getting the first spot in their group.

In today’s game, US actually scored goal in the first half, but it was ruled offside by the referee. A replay of the play showed that the refs made the wrong call. This is not the first time US has gotten a unlucky call like this in this year’s world cup. In the match against Slovenia, a goal by US was called off due to a fault, but again a replay showed no fault had been committed.

Today, US played very well and had several chances to score and controlled the ball most of the time. They were almost eliminated from advancing to the next round, if they had tied the game, but a stunning goal in the 91st minute, put the through. The goal came through as a result of Donovan passing the ball forward to Jozy Altidore who tiped the ball to Clint Dempsey, who attempted a shot to the goal but was deflected by the goaly. Donovon then made his way to the rebound and shot the ball into the net.

“Clint made a good run in the middle, the ball fell to me … time kind of stopped,” Donovan said. “You can’t miss from there.”

At the end all the players celebrated n emotions along with US fans. The US fans were still in the stadium celebrating 30 minutes after the end of the game.

It is not known yet who US will face in the next match. It could be Germany, Australia, Ghana or Serbia.

Streaming Radio – Boon or bane?

    June 21st, 2010 by publisher

Digital copyrights have become more strenuous than ever these days. Thanks to people dropping mp3s here and there and all over the internet, artists feel robbed of their royalties that would otherwise be earned especially if their music was in the top 40 list.

With the ‘it’s all about the money, honey’ paradigm kicking in for a decade or so now, and with digital music leaving the music industry behind because of their outdated ways, it seems as if music labels are trying to sell records just as they did with 80s music.

However, there is one method of promoting music thee days that is really catching on with old and young alike. There is nothing revolutionary about it except for the fact that people have launched radio stations all over the internet, only requiring a unique web address and some basic software to do so.

SHOUTcast and AOL radio have been the mainstay of streaming radio but with the software requirements to set up your own radio station costing as little as $ 5.95 a month, people are broadcasting their own shows in rapid succession.

Is this good or bad for artists seem to be the question?

To which the answer is: Very good. Just as conventional radio has worked for artists in the past, internet radio will play a much larger role in promoting an artist’s music (without any foul play) to a much much wider audience. So, without further ado, welcome to the world of online radio…

    Spring is for soccer!

    June 3rd, 2010 by admin

Guest blogger Rick Meriss wrote this.

Spring might mean the start of the baseball season to some people, but in my house it’s the kick off to the Major League Soccer season. Nothing makes me more excited than turning on Direct tv and seeing that the Columbus Crew are back for another dominating season. With so many of the players returning from last year’s second straight Supporters Shield winning team, it seems like it will be impossible to stop us this season!

Guillermo Barros Schelotto’s return has been secured as the Crew’s first ever designated player and continues to help the team produce. Sure David Beckham sells more tickets and Cuauhtémoc Blanco might be a little more well known, but neither one of them have affected the landscape of the MLS as much as Schelotto. With him helping lead a team full of potential US National team players, the club can only go up.

Speaking of international play, the competition for the World Cup will be starting soon. Needless to say soccer fever will fully consume my house by the time America takes the pitch against England! It’s going to be a great year for watching soccer.

    May 27th, 2010 by admin

American Idol aired their finale last night. The final came down between Lee Dewyze and Crystal Bowersox. Even tough on the previous night judges seemed to have liked Crystal better, Lee Dewyze won by a margin of 2% in the votes, as Ryan Seacrest proclaimed.

The show also said goodbye to Simon Cowell, who is leaving American Idol to concentrate on his launching of American version of X-Factor. Many funny clips of Simon’s past at the show were aired as a goodbye. Even Paula Abdul showed to say a few words.

The Finale was 2 hours and featured many live performances from past American Idol winners and top 10 finalists, as well songs performed by artists such as Bee Gees, Joe Cocker, Brett Michaels, Alanis Morissette, Janet Jackson, Christina Aguilara and Chicago. Past winers, Kris Allen, Ruben Studdard and Kelly Clarkson also performed their new hits.

“Pants on the Ground” singer General Larry Platt who was in auditions this year also performed. This song became sort of a funny hit, due to it’s catchy hook. William Hung a past contestant who is also a celebrity due to his lack of singing capabilities performed with the General on this song.
